After making a sizeable investment in a moving and storage solutions company the private equity sponsor decided to replace a cofounder and sitting CEO as they contemplated additional investment in the business. With a national network and franchise operations around the country Zippy Shell was poised for tremendous growth but needed to control their cost structure.
K&A identified a senior executive with a background in logistics, supply chain and direct to consumer businesses to become the new CEO. Mark Kuhns most recently had helped a PE sponsor sell a company that sold products and services to college students through endorsed relationships with colleges and universities. The exit represented a 3x multiple of investment capital. Prior to that role Mr. Kuhns was an early employee of Under Armour establishing their retail and online presence. Since joining Zippy Shell the company acquired 1800 Pac Rat and continues to expand on their growth strategy.
